Busy weekend

Well I can't believe that another month has disappeared in a blink of an eye (or so it seems!!)......but at least I have something to blog about ...

The Friday Fabricholic decided to have a small roadtrip this friday as Val had found another fabric supply for us to support :).
Lyn runs her business from her home, she does shows and is quite happy for you to go and see her selection by appointment ....I guess I was expecting just a small amount of choice boy was I wrong!! she has all of Lynette Andersons new line and much much more.
Her pool table was covered in boxes of fat quarters,eighths,50cm width of fabric, books etc etc then there is a room set out like a Quilt shop with bolts. well worth a visit.
For Adelaide quilters she is just off Henley Beach rd the business is called Quilter Quarters so if you would like to visit call Lynette Buttfield on 0427618739...we even got morning tea..
This is the small selection I was tempted to buy, a few Civil war fats in pink and brown and yes before you ask I have got a project for them :) and a jelly roll
" Independence Trail" by Minick and Simpson and no I don't have a project for that..but the rule is that when you open a jelly roll you have to replace it on the shelf..or is that just in my house !!

Next is my TA DAH moment....... Yes Flowerdale is finally finished and up on the wall...I am so pleased with this,it looks lovely in the dining room really finishes the room off... so thanks once again to Gail Pan for a great pattern, now I have to tackle quilting Beries and Bluebirds !!

I am still toodling along with the Sugar Club blocks number 3 was a pleasure to do went together like a dream

unlike number 2 which was paper pieced and drove me nuts!! took me nearly all day and 2 centres to get it together, it's still a bit wonky but will have to do I'm sure it's nothing I can't work out when it comes to sewing it all together
Look forward to April 1st when we get number 4 and of course the yummy recipes that come with it

We had the Saturday girls get together here, so I baked a cake !! wasn't bad ...we had a great day lots of chatter, laughs and a little bit of sewing ...Love these days you feel so invigorated after all the problems of the World have been solved ...well mainly those in our little world but thats enough ... I think the company of other Quilters in so important you get friendship and support which I think is enough to keep you sane.

Now those of you who read this blog will know that I have been educating Seth in the art of Fabric selection by taking him to many Quilt shops.
We decided yesterday that it was time to move on to the next sstage so I now have an assistant cutter

 Disclaimer

No small child was injured in the taking of this photo..
Don't you love the concetration on his face he has played with this cutter ( without the blade!!) all week he loves it Little Quilter in the making :)

Hope your weekend was as fun-filled as mine I'm off for a cuppa and tidy up the sewing room make room for my new purchases.
Happy Quilting

Busy Busy Busy

Was a really busy weekend we had a get together on Saturday at Shays
there was lots of laughter, chatter & of course chocolate.
Lorraine brought show & tell, her Antique Quilts that were a recent purchase on her trip to the USA.
They were brought at Huston
First up was a 1920's Pickle Dish

Beautiful hand quilting

Her second quilt was a Feathered Star
Denise & I decided to try it out
Very snuggley..

Again stunning hand quilting
Lorraine was also lucky enough to get some history with it including pictures of the maker & the recipient.
Go to her blog for the full story

Tara showed her Mrs Billings she only has 2 borders left to go

Friday saw me at our Friday quilting, there has been a bit of a change in the group so we decided on a new name for a new start so let me introduce
" The Friday Fabaholics"
We were at Lorraines lovely company, good food, plenty of chatter & laughs ummm seems as if Quilt get togethers follow a similar pattern ....

I am now on the borders of my Flowerdale
Hope to have that done in the next couple of weeks

Lastly today was a Baby shower for my daughters best friend from primary school
I am making her a Quilt for when the baby arrives so just ran up a blanket
( no wadding) with a cream minky on the back.
It was a hot steamy weekend here hope you are keeping cool in Australia and warm elsewhere else

Favourite Thing Friday

So finally managed to get Blogger to co-operate so I can make this actually on Friday ....

Linking up with the lovely & I may say extremely humerous Shay over at Quilting in my pajamas

My Favourite thing this week is a new POM....Pattern of the month

I had decided that this year,as every year really,I was going to finish all the half done things languishing in my sewing room so of course when I saw The Sugar Block Club on Amys Blog I leapt in & signed up !! Who could resist a block pattern/ instruction email plus recipe every month for under $8 Bargain so I emailed on Sunday got my first block email on Weds & sewed the block on Thursday

I recieved a lovely parcel from Santa ( AKA my hubby & Somerset Patchwork ) which included some 2inch Clamshell papers & template so I have been having a play with them as well ....Yes I know thats another new project but it was Christmas

Lastly a pic of my Niece with her Mr MaGoo made from a Melly & Me pattern & kit my girls gave her for Christmas she had a bit of help from her Nanny but did a lot herself

So Hope to manage to post more often this year & wishing everyone a Happy New Year & plenty of stitching time

Belated Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year...

Was hoping to get on here before Christmas to send out Seasons Greetings but it didn't happen.

There has been a lot of time wasting caused by this little guy but I'm not complaining at all.

There has been some serious sitting in the sun especially by the Welsh contingent, soaking it up, making up for the last couple of years.

There has been a LOT of sisterly chatting and laughing going on

Some Grandpa and Grandson bonding, just chilling out watching the TV on hot days.

Beginning the Quilting education with Nanna  watching Quiltcam with Bonnie Hunter

And best of all a beautiful Christmas time spent with Family friends and of course this sweet little guy.

Wishing you all a Happy Healthy Peaceful and fantastic 2013

Happy Stitching

Spotlight.......

It might not look like it in the picture but he did have a good time !!

I did get a bit of time to do some handquilting on my "Flowerdale"
while we watched Bonnie on Quiltcam.......
Seth thought she was very entertaining & obviously talking just to him....
No harm in starting them young is there

YES I'm still here

Life has been very busy around here add to that they fact that I'm still not back to normal sewing after my op and news has been a bit thin on the ground ....I have also been busy supporting my
(second) Mum and Dad while they nursed their daughter ( my friend) Sallie at home till sadly her death 10 days ago. She had been diagnosed 12 weeks before with secondary Liver cancer so it was very swift at the end. She hung on to make her 50th birthday. So as you can imagine things have been a bit sad .... Her parents are blessed to have a great support, as her Mum is part of our Quilting Group, it"s true what they say about Quilters :)

Anyway some pics of what has been happening here....Some Sisters Choice blocks I am making from the Lilly and Will line by Bunny Hill

A more modern quilt that I made for my newest aquisition my lovely husband brought me a new car and I love it !!!

As you can see I decided to go for a very subtle restained colour !! Not going to be easy to miss me coming LOL

On my design wall at the moment are the Shoo-Fly blocks that I am making from the Battle Hymn line have made about 30 of them & have decided that they will be put On-Pointe may be adding some applique but will see how it looks when they are pieced together

We only have 4 weeks before the new Grandson arrives from The UK with my daughter and son-in-law we have been busy getting things ready here I have actually got some painting done in the house ...we are getting very excited can't wait to see them all.

So I think thats all for now hope it's not this long before the next post.

Till then happy stitching

The drought is over........

Been nearly 4 weeks since my sholder op so I did a little bit of sewing today

Sorted out some fabric - I love the brown/ blue spot fabric wish I had brought more isn't that always the way- a bit of tape from the very talented Lilla Lotta and a cute button

The reason for the sewing is the MP4 player I brought recently ...I thought it deserved a cute little pouch all of it's own

After all it is containing the pictures of this very cute little man for me to carry around and show people ....

I mean you just have to share such cuteness around don't you !!

Have a lovely stitchy weekend everyone

Better Late than Never !!!

So I am currently sitting at home recuperating from my sholder operation no sewing just yet....
The problem with that being I am looking at books & magazines & blog hopping seeing SOOOO many quilts that I want to make my to-do list is getting bigger every day!!

I sent away for some cards from the very talented Lili Popo

When they arrived I decided that they were really too nice to use so I got a frame & now have them hanging in my sewing room

Think they look so pretty like this

When we started to decorate the dining room my Quilt hanger was taken down & I have decided not to hang it back there.
So it is now in my sewing room & I have a design wall.
Currently hanging there is my newest project

GRANNY SQUARES

I have joined the Flikr group although I am a bit behind everyone else
really enjoying doing these
am using up all the left over squares cut for my Berries & Bluebirds

Lastly I started this cushion cover just before the op it just needs a back
& it can go to its new owner

So hope to have some new sewing news next post
just off to find some more projects for my to do list

Tour de Fibre: post 7

Well no posts for a week ....naughty me but has been a really busy week here.
I went to see a specialist on Monday about my shoulder & we have decided that an operation is the way to go, so am waiting to hear when I go in, it will only be day surgery but I will be home for 4-6 weeks so after the initial healing I am hoping to get some stitching done.
So, as I am still madly yo-yo-ing here there are no new pics of them so I will show you my newest piece of furniture which my husband has painted for me
.
I am going to use it to hold my Quilts.

I had to go to the Dentist this week (not my most favourite place) as I had broken a tooth,so as I was a good girl & didn't cry or hang onto the door frame ( as I did when a little girl ) I was allowed to have a treat at the local Quilt shop I brought some blue material for my Flowerdale & Berries & Bluebird borders & some Civil War, Battle Hymn, for a border on my Shoo Fly top.

When I got home I found this months parcel from Somerset Patchworks Civil War club, some yummy pieces in this lot.

 Am loving those greys.

So weekend off for me so maybe I will have some pics of progress for you all next time.
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend with some stitching time.
